Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

I used to start my day off with a smoothie.  I would go with whatever we had in the fridge/freezer adding in some sort of protein and green.  Banana, strawberries, blueberries, spinach, kale, yogurt, applesauce, nut butter, ect…  For whatever reason pregnancy turned me off to them and the habit was abruptly dropped.  Much to my delight this week I was re-inspired.  I’m keeping it simple but I find them to be quite filling holding me over for hours.  I attribute this to my addition of chia seeds and pecan butter.  Almond butter never quite does it for me but the pecan butter has hit the spot.  It’s creamy and oily just to my liking.  Chia seeds have numerous health benefits which can easily be looked up online.  But mainly they offer me tons of Omega 3!  Good stuff.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

  • 1 banana
  • 6-7 strawberries
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup yogurt, I’ve been using Maple Brown Cow
  • 2 tablespoons pecan butter
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 4-5 ice cubes
  1. Blend all ingredients except the ice.  Once fully blended, chia seeds will pretty much disappear, blend in the ice.
Notice the straw I’m using?  An awesome gift from my mom!
They are wider in diameter, perfect for smoothies.  And they reduce my plastic footprint on the planet.  Go mom : ).
