Mariscos from Panama

The beaches below our campsite had numerous reefs that would surface during low tide.  At first we would watch the locals as they would head out daily during low tide collecting the edibles in the reef cracks.  But eventually we decided to try it out ourselves and went out a couple of times to collect some mariscos.  It’s amazing how many different varieties were available.

Low tide and heading towards the rocks

A small collection of mariscos we pried of the rocks

I already boiled them out of their shells and cleaned them of sand. Sautéing them with garlic to enjoy over rice.

Ceviche!!!  Boiled and cleaned mariscos with chopped onion, a splash of soy sauce, and a lime the size of your head.

Ceviche : )
