Grilled Tofu and Shrimp Lettuce Wraps

Crispy butter leaf lettuce served with marinated and grilled shrimp and tofu, rice, cabbage, bean sprouts and grilled onion.  Yum!

Shrimp and Tofu Lettuce Wraps

marinade:

  • Lemongrass, chopped
  • Ginger, grated
  • Garlic, minced
  • Scallions, greens chopped small, whites large enough to skewer
  • 1/4 C Tamari
  • Sesame Oil
  • Oil
  • Honey
  • Lime Zest
  • Cilantro, chopped
  • Mint, chopped
  • Shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • Tofu

toppings:

  • Cabbage, shredded
  • Lettuce (I use the hydroponic bibb lettuce that comes in the plastic tin)
  • White Rice, cooked and cooled
  • Bean Sprouts, mixed with fresh lime juice
  • Grilled Onion

1. Press block of tofu for 20 minutes or so and cut into strips fat enough to be skewered.

2. Mix first set of ingredients to make marinade.  Taste seasonings and adjust if necessary.

3. Marinate the shrimp and tofu, separately.

4. Once ready to grill, skewer and grill for a short time.

5. Assemble and eat!  These are a great outside food, and everyone tends to love them.

I have also made lettuce wraps using a nice quality sirloin strips marinating it in

  • Black Pepper
  • Lemongrass, chopped
  • Shallot, sliced into thin rounds
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Fish Sauce
  • Sugar
  • Sesame Oil
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Hydroponic Lettuce
  • Rice Noodles
  • Fresh Basil
  • Bean Sprouts covered in Lime Juice
